iluka Golf Club - 'Where good friends meet'

The picturesque 16th hole is always a good test for all golfers.
Welcome is
always warm
Iluka is a coastal village at the mouth of the Clarence River on the Far North Coast of New South Wales, Australia.
By car Iluka is a 17km drive through rainforest from the Pacific Highway and less than 80km from Grafton.
To the north, the Gold Coast is just two hours away, Byron Bay a 90-minute drive and Ballina an hour away.
And you probably know, or would have heard about, our trendier 'cousin' Yamba. But this is all about Iluka and the pace of life here is much slower than on the other side of the river.
Iluka doesn't have the type of development that so many of us want to escape from -- you won't find any fast food outlets or high-rise buildings here.
This fact makes it a truly rewarding experience for those craving the 'good life' that includes golf, fishing and lazy days on the beach.
And there's more than a fair chance you and your partner won't have to share any of these experiences with too many other locals or visitors.

Take the challenge
The Iluka village, which is surrounded by national park, the river and the Pacific Ocean, boasts a challenging nine-hole 'all-weather' golf course* with two sets of tees for 18-hole competitions.
The fairways are well maintained and lead into a bevy of raised greens which are always a delight to putt on.
The course also offers golfers that do not like crowds the very rare experience of playing a round and having the fairways to themselves.
And more reasons to stay 'n' play in Iluka, we're within an hour's drive to 18-hole golf courses to the north, south and west.
* Although Iluka is known as a nine-hole course, there are 10 holes all maintained by our greenskeeper and volunteers.

Olive and Keith will be missed
Golf club members have farewelled Olive and Keith Pavey, pictured right.
After more than a decade in Iluka the Paveys have moved to Arundel on the northen end of the Gold Coast so they can be near their son who is relocating to Brisbane. Keith, who has been at the helm of the club for five years, made his final president's report at the annual-general meeting on Sunday, August 17.
A sausage sizzle was held following the meeting where members said 'goodbye' to the popular couple. A 'farewell dinner' also was held at the club on Saturday, August 16.

At the 19th
Enjoy a free game of pool, a flutter on the pokies or a 'cool one' when visiting the Iluka Golf Club. The clubhouse is open seven days a week. There are raffles and a members' badge draw every Friday night while the club also runs a courtesy bus each weekend and will collect visitors from the Woody Head camping ground and caravan parks and holiday units in Iluka, phone 6646 6408 for more details.
